Therapeutic Surgery of the Skin
Dr. Anir Dhir graduated with honors from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1990. He subsequently received an M.D. from Baylor College of Medicine, where he was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha - the medical honor society. He completed his Dermatology residency at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Following residency, Dr. Dhir pursued a fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery, facial reconstruction, and cosmetic surgery with Dr. Gary Monheit in Birmingham, Alabama. In 2003, Dr. Dhir was first elected to Best Doctors in America by his colleagues.
Dr. Dhir's practice is limited to therapeutic surgery of the skin. His primary focus is Mohs micrographic surgery for skin cancer. He performs over 1,200 Mohs surgeries each year, and specializes in the most advanced reconstructive techniques. In 2005, he was one of four surgeons invited to participate in a "Masters Panel" presentation discussing cutting edge reconstructive techniques at the Annual Mohs College meeting, along with Mohs surgeons from the Mayo Clinic, Stanford, and MD Anderson Cancer Hospital.
Dr. Dhir is board-certified in dermatology and is an active member of numerous professional societies, including the American
College of Mohs Surgery,
American
Society for Dermatologic Surgery, American
Academy of Dermatology, and American
Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery.
He is a frequent speaker at national academic meetings on topics related to both skin cancer and dermatologic surgery. He recently served a 3-year term as a delegate to the Kentucky Medical Association, and has previously served on the Service Councils of both the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and the Lexington Medical Society. He is a former member of the AMA’s Advisory Council on Family Violence.
Dr. Dhir and his wife, Nathalie, have two children. He enjoys automobile and motorcycle racing, cooking, and athletics.
*** Please note that Dr. Dhir’s heavy surgical schedule necessitates very limited clinic availability. As a result, he can not serve as the primary dermatologist for patients. Patients are referred to him only for specialized surgical treatment of specific skin cancers. We apologize that his schedule can not accommodate patients needing routine skin exams or assistance with general dermatology issues.
In 2004, Dr. Dhir suspended his cosmetic surgery practice to devote his efforts to an increasing skin cancer surgical caseload. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused patients seeking assistance with cosmetic needs. His partner, Dr. Laurie Massa, is an outstanding cosmetic dermatologist and director of our full-service BelleAge medical spa. She is an expert in laser surgery, IPL photofacials, Botox, dermal fillers, and microdermabrasion.
